Safari Green 1953 Zenith Model L520F Vacuum Tube Radio Looks and Sounds Great! Excellent Condition!
DESCRIPTION: Vintage 1953 tabletop vacuum tube AM radio manufactured by Zenith in excellent working and physical condition.
CABINET CONDITION: No cracks, chips, or major scratches. Original factory molded Bakelite painted at Zenith factory in green. Original factory paint. Not repainted. No over spray no touch up. None needed. Paint scratches and dings here and there throughout. All original factory metal film trim pieces by the knobs are in excellent condition no rub off or peeling.
SOUND QUALITY: This radio picks up AM stations very clearly and very loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
DIAL LIGHT: No dial light, but one can be added for additional charge.
KNOBS: The knobs of this vintage tube radio are original, green plastic, matching and securely attached.
CLOCK: The clock works quietly and keeps accurate time. The alarm works. The buzzer works. The clock and alarm set function work. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Alarm and clock set function works and goes off at the correct set times. Buzzer alarm works. Wake to radio or radio with buzzer. Sleep timer works. Front clock face green back panel is clean no dents or dings, not warped, no water stains. Clock function matching knobs are original, green plastic securely attached.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: The capacitors been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt or replaced to ensure static free performance. The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications.
POWER CORD: Original brown power cord and non-polarized plug is in excellent condition no exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Original backing board is intact in very good to excellent condition. All four t-pins holes are intact not ripped or bent. These Zenith backing boards are unusually flimsy in design. Many surviving examples have missing backing boards or backing boards that are in poor condition.
FACTORY LABELS: Bottom factory labels is mostly intact and legible.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets.
