DESCRIPTION: Artisan crafted wood tabletop vacuum tube AM radio manufactured by Philco in 1940-1941 time fame in excellent working and physical condition.
CABINET CONDITION: Curved wood sides and top. The top wood grain book match looks like a fiddleback. The back cover cut-outs continue the musical theme. Cabinet is original hand crafted cherry colored wood. The finish is factory original with worn through finish in spots. No cracks, chips or major scratches or missing pieces in wood construction. No chipped or missing veneer along edges and corners. Not repainted, no touch up, no over spray. Clear tuning window is not cracked, no chips, yellowed with age, securely attached. Original grill fabric is not ripped, no water stains, not separated along edges.
WORKING CONDITION: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
LOGO: No missing logos.
KNOBS: The original tuning knobs are all matching in excellent condition no cracks no chips securely attached.
LETTERING: No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on tuning dial numbering. The tuning dial works fine no slipping or sticky spots. Tuning back panel is a rare unusual metallic painted red burgundy color.
DIAL LIGHT: Dial light works and lights brightly.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need for external antenna attachment. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications.
CLOCK: No clock
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All out of tolerance paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
BACKING BOARD: Factory original backing board is in excellent condition. Beautiful ornate cutouts.
POWER CORD: The replacement power cord and plug are in excellent original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
FACTORY LABEL: No missing factory labels.
