Creme Ivory Bakelite 1939 Airline 04BR-514B Vacuum Tube AM Radio Excellent Condition Good Ole Days!
DESCRIPTION: It won't be too long before these radios will be 100 years old! And able to play radio stations which still broadcast would be quite an accomplishment! Tabletop vacuum tube radio manufactured by Montgomery Ward Airline in the 1939 time frame still in excellent working and physical condition. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial. Excellent classic design with working pre-set push buttons which were a marvel of their day. Curved top and sides on a pedestal gives an Art Deco appearance which is reminiscent of the time. Factory original painted ivory over Bakelite cabinet is in excellent condition with no cracks, no chips, no major scratches. Few paint dings here and there. Not repainted. Not touched up. Not over sprayed. This radio is over 80 years old! All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. The dial is transparent clear plastic in excellent condition with no cracks, securely attached, no warping, slight yellowing. No other missing numbering, dots or dashes, or anything. No smudges or yellowing. Original back panel is not missing. Replaced with newly fabricated fiber board backing which has internal loop antenna attached to it. The tuning dial work fine no slipping no squeaking no sticky spots. Tuning preset buttons work and can be preset to any stations of your choice. The unit powers on and off with a definite click. New dial bulb light up brightly. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 70+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The replacement power cord and polarized plug are new and excellent working condition. No exposed wiring. No pervasive hum. No pervasive static. Stations tune in clearly and distinctly. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
