DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM clock radio alarm manufactured by Montgomery Wards Airline in 1959 in excellent plus physical and excellent working condition. Very rare color combo in this model. This radio looks practically brand new.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded turquoise sky blue back and white front plastic. All original molded factory colors through and through! Not repainted. No over spray. Not touched up. No cracks, no chips or major scratches or missing pieces. Beautiful low and wide profile. Cabinet is glossy. Clock and tuning clear cover is in excellent condition. No cracks, chips and securely attached. Top snooze button surround trim has a chip.
KNOBS: Original factory matching volume and tuning knobs are securely attached with perfect condition metal inserts and no broken attach posts. Gold metal inserts both intact not missing. Two clock function flap knobs are in excellent condition, original and matching.
LOGO: Montagomery Wards logo is intact and excellent condition.
DIAL LIGHT: Dial light works and lights brightly.
CLOCK: Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Alarm and clock set function works and goes off at the correct set times. Wake to radio or radio and buzzer. Sleep timer works. Front black pinstripe clock face back panel is excellent condition, no rust, no dents or dings, not warped, no water stains. Clock arms are original white, not tarnished or rusted, securely attached.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The original power cord and plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: No backingbaord. Not designed with one. Sky blue turquoise plastic back is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips or melted heat vanes.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: Bottom label is mostly missing.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets.
