Celeste Blue Mid Century 1954 Firestone Model 4-A-127 Vacuum Tube AM Radio Cool Model Rare Color!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop vacuum tube AM vintage radio manufactured by Firestone in 1954 in excellent working and physical condition. Rare model in a rare color. Firestine Tire and Rubber Co of Akron OH decided they too wanted to sell radios since everyone was buying them. Need tires? How about a nice clock radio to go with that?
CABINET CONDITION: Original factory molded cabinet in light blue plastic.0 All original factory molded colors through and through. Not repainted. No touch up no over spray. Cabinet is in excellent condition with no cracks, no chips, no major scratches. This radio is over 69 years old! The clock and tuning face clear bezels are not cracked or chipped, No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on tuning dial lettering on the clock or radio tuning bezel. The gold color clock and tuning internal square surround is in excellent condition with no fading, oxidation or stains. The clear bezels are securely attached with no major scratches. The clear cover bezel attachment tabs are not cracked off which is common on this model. The tuning indicator translucent green is in excellent condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
KNOBS: The original factory matching volume and tuning knobs are in excellent condition. Center gold metal caps are not missing but tarnished. The 3 little clear clock knobs are all original and matching and securely attached. Usually some or all of these are missing or not matching. The tuning dial works no slipping no sticky spots.
LOGO: The Firestone decal is in excellent condition not rubbed off or flaking.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents, so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static free performance in the future. The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. This vintage radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
BACKING BOARD: The original backing board is in very good condition. There is a center top section that has cracked off.
CLOCK: Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Alarm set function works. Alarm works. Clock set works. Sleep timer works. Clock motor has been freshly cleaned, lubricated and sealed.
POWER CORD: The original power cord and plug are excellent working condition no breaks, no exposed wires.
