Bomber Green 1954 Firestone Model 4-A-137 Vacuum Tube AM Radio Gorgeous Looking and Sounding!
DESCRIPTION: Rare model tabletop tube AM clock alarm radio manufactured by Firestone in 1954 time frame in excellent physical and working condition. If radios have their automobile counterparts, this is a G wagon Mercedes!
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment. Dual speakers for better sound quality. Working tone control adjust high and low audio tones.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded brown Bakelite refinished in green. This model offered by Firestone manufactured by Arvin was available in green and brown in model year 1954. Has repaired cracks and chips. Front tuning gold bezel is original and excellent condition.
KNOBS: Original knobs are matching and securely attached. No missing gold metal inserts. The tuning dial works fine no slipping no sticky spots.
LOGO: Firestone logo is mostly chipped off except the last 2-3 letters.
DIAL LIGHT: Tuning dial light works and light brightly. Replacement LED bulb will not need to be replaced for many years.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. Both intermediate frequency transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to insure against undesirable static noise in the future. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: Original power cord and plug are in excellent working condition. No breaks, no splits, no repair with electrical tape, or other. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Original factory backing board is in excellent condition.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: Bottom factory label is flaked off in places.
