DESCRIPTION: Here's one you don't see very often. Unbelievable retro kitsch appeal in a hard to find color combo. Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Philco in 1957 in excellent working and physical condition. Look at the wild oblique angles!
SOUND QUALITY: Dual speaker design for better sound! Picks up AM stations clearly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original salmon pink and white color. This radio is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips or major scratches which is incredible considering its acute edges and corners. The front grill is in excellent condition with no paint chips, or fading or uneven discoloration. No cracks on the top! There is a splotch on top where there is some tape or glue residue. No repairs. No repaints. None needed. The front white plastic strip between the two speaker grill sections is replaced. This radio features a bass and treble slide switch on top that works! The "Bass" and "Treble" lettering mostly rubbed off. All original factory molded color plastic. No repaint no touch up no over spray. Factory applied salmon pink paint front grill on molded white cabinet. All original factory colors.The gold painted trim above the tuning round is tarnished and greening due to age.
KNOBS: Original matching knobs are in excellent condition and securely attached. No broken attach posts. Tuning knob is original and securely attached missing center metal gold cap which often goes missing over the years. Volume knob is original no missing gold metal center cap.
LOGO: No missing logo.
DIAL LIGHT: Tuning dial light works and lights brightly. Illuminates the tuning round window when radio is powered on.
SPEAKER: Two original 4" speaker
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents. Both Intermediate Transformers have been rebuilt so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The brand new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent condition with no breaks, not dried, not brittle. No exposed wiring.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: Bottom factory labels are not missing, intact original. Readable.
BACKING BOARD: Original matching white factory back cover no cracks, no chips or no major scratches. Securely mounted.
COLOR: salmon pink and white.
