DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by RCA Victor in 1949 in excellent+ working and physical condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial. This antique plays great without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: This radio is almost 75 years old! No cracks, chips, or major scratches. Bakelite cabinet is glossy brown color. Previous owner attached screw mounted brackets in back to secure backing board. Factory original design used spring clips which loosened over time and did not secure backing board reliably. Center gold metal design trim and tuning pointer is in excellent condition. Original factory molded color through and through no repaints no over spray and no touch ups. None needed. Excellent original condition cabinet with no cracks, splits, or seams, abrasions, or missing pieces. All the dial numbers are crisp and clear. The tuning dial is clear no yellowing no missing center metal cap. No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on dial lettering. Center brass metal trim is in excellent condition, shiny no rust, not tarnished and securely fastened.
KNOBS: Knobs are original and securely attached. The tuning dial works fine. No slipping. Copper color metal foil behind tuning knob is in very good condition. Volume knob has numerous scratches no broken posts.
FACTORY LABELS: Bottom factory label is missing.
DIAL LIGHT: Dial light is new and lights up brightly.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. No exposed wiring.
POWER CORD: The brand new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wires.
BACKING BOARD: Original backing board is securely attached.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets.
