Art Deco Post War 1949 Telechron Model 8H59 Tube AM Clock Radio First Clock Radio!

DESCRIPTION: This was the first integrated clock radio design by any manufacturer.  Before this, alarm clocks did not have radio. Telechron invented this concept of an alarm clock that turned the radio on. It was such a good idea, that it basically is still in use today as a design concept. General Electric liked the idea so much they bought the Telechron company. Tabletop tube AM clock radio alarm manufactured by Telechron in 1949 time frame in excellent+ working condition. Late 40s design in brown molded Bakelite painted ivory. Original factory color. No repaints no touch-ups no over spray. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial with external antenna attachment wire which is included and already attached. This was before the time of internal wire loop or ferrite rod antenna. Cabinet is in excellent condition with no cracks, splits, or missing plastic. No cracks on top.  Couple paint dings and scratches throughout. This radio is over 70 years old!  No missing labels. The tuning numbers are not faded or rubbed off. The original knobs are in excellent condition. The tuning dial works fine and smooth no slipping. This radio does not use a variable tuning capacitor with the inter-meshing plate design. It uses a ferrite plunger into a wire wound sleeve to modulate detector frequency. What a curiosity but it works. Not seen on any other design. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! Best reception when using the enclosed wire antenna. The clock works and keep accurate time. The clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no grinding no ticking noises. The alarm works. The buzzer works. The clock and alarm set function work. The sleep timer works. The tubes are working fine. No dial light. Noth one. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The replacement power cord and plug are good original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. The original ivory backing board is intact and securely attached with all four original T-pins. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
