Aquamarine Blue Retro Jetsons Vintage 1959 Arvin 2585 AM Tube Radio Mid Century Retro Glory!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Arvin in 1959 Model Number 2585. This radio is in excellent+ to mint working and physical condition. The epitome of retro Jetsons age styling! Cabinet is original factory molded turquoise aquamarine color. This particular radio shade is a pure aquamarine compared with other turquoise shades of the 50s. The others have been lighter blue hue. This radio is not yellowed from blue to green due to age. It is evenly molded in a shade of aquamarine like the clear atoll waters of Bora Bora. The front brown, tan, and gold tweed is one of the cleanest and un-frayed I've seen and a striking contrast texturally with the aqua plastic. Original factory fabric with no yellowing no staining no rust tracks from the Arvin logo. No cracks, chips or major scratches. There is a small cord rash on the bottom right side back where the power cord was wrapped around the radio during prolonged storage. Knobs are original and securely attached and not even ivoried from skin oils true white color. Most of these Model 2585 have some minimal yellowing of the knobs but not this one. This radio features dual speakers so it has a much better tone than normal single speaker radios. The handle is built into the back of dial display which makes it very functional. Surprisingly, no hairline crack on the back top cover by the handle. No chips off the bottom feet. This radio is over 60 years old! No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on dial lettering. The tuning dial works no slipping no squeaking. Dial light lights brightly. Has been replaced with modern LED so it lights brighter and never needs replacing. The pure white original power cable is securely attached no cracks, fatigue or brittleness, or exposed wiring. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. Bottom factory label is missing. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
