DESCRIPTION: Table top clock radio manufactured by Madison in 1946. Madison is a upscale quality boutique-y radio manufacturer among radio manufacturers. Not much information exists on this brand originally headquartered out of New York City under the name Datom Industries.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is in excellent plus condition. Original factory molded ivory color urea plastic. Urea plastic is a higher quality polycarbonate composition plastic that is stronger, heat resistant, and retains color longer without fading.` Not repainted. No over spray. Not touched up. No cracks, chips, or major scratches or missing pieces. Clock cover is glass and in excellent condition with no cracks or chips. Gold metal square trim surround piece is in excellent condition with no dents or dings. No gold rub off. Slightly tarnished in areas. Securely attached.
KNOBS: Original matching ivory knobs are in excellent condition and securely attached. Little clock knobs are all original and securely attached which is rare. These often go missing over the years.
LOGO: Original Madison logo is in excellent condition with no chipped letters no paint rub off.
DIAL LIGHT: No dial light not designed with one. But can be added for an extra charge.
SPEAKER: 4" speaker
CLOCK: Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Alarm and clock set function works and goes off at the correct set times. No buzzer. Wake to radio only. Sleep timer works. No snooze button not designed with one.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The replacement power cord and plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: No missing factory labels
BACKING BOARD: Original factory backing board is intact and securely mounted. Factory info printing is readable with no water stains and little fading. An acrylic back cover was fabricated for mounting the Amazon and phono controls. Also serves as protection for original backing.
