Artisan Handcrafted Wood Vintage St. Regis Model 402 Vacuum Tube AM Shortwave Radio Rare Manufacturer! Excellent Condition!

DESCRIPTION: Tabletop vacuum tube radio manufactured by St. Regis International Radio Corp. in the 1936 to 1939 time frame in solid physical shape and excellent working condition. Not much info to be found on St Regis manufacturer.

CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original artisan handcrafted wood cabinet. No veneer chips or major scratches. There is a crack across the middle of one of the speaker louvers, see photo. The original finish was repainted at some point. Paint has been removed and lightly sanded to smooth. Has been stained and lightly sprayed with clear coat then tung oil to protect against dry cracking.

SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM and shortwave stations very clearly and loudly around the dial.

KNOBS: All 3 brown matching knobs; volume, tuning, and band selector. Looks like Emerson original knobs. Not sure if they were replaced with Emerson knobs or came that way from the factory.

DIAL LIGHT: Dial lights work and light up brightly on both sides.

CLOCK: No clock

LOGOS: None missing. St. Regis original metal plaque logo piece is in excellent condition.

INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec dog bone resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.

POWER CORD: The new replacement power cord and plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits.
