DESCRIPTION: This vintage radio manufactured by Truetone in 1959 in excellent plus working and physical condition. Rare and beautiful. Embodies all the design elements of the Jetsons, atomic age, space race era.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded light blue turquoise plastic back and white front. No cracks, chips, or major scratches on white grill front. Usually the front corners are chipped of loose. Light blue turquoise back also has no cracks, chips or major scratches. Usually surviving examples of this model have hairline cracks on top but not this one! No cracks, no chips, no major scratches. Not repainted, no over spray, no touch up. None needed. Original front pot metal casting trim piece is in excellent shiny condition, not rusted, not tarnished, not fading, and securely attached.
KNOBS: Factory original matching knobs are in excellent condition no missing metal center inserts. No cracks, no chips, not yellowed. Two matching replacement clock function knobs are in excellent condition and securely attached.
LOGO: Factory Truetone front logo plate is excellent condition. No lettering rub off.
DIAL LIGHT: No dial light. Not designed with one but can be added for an extra charge.
CLOCK: Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor has very low humming, typical of clocks of that time, no buzzing no ticking noises. Alarm and clock set function works and goes off at the correct set times. Buzzer works. Sleep timer works. No snooze button. Front clear clock cover is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static free performance in the future. The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The original power cord and plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Original factory backing board is in excellent condition with crisp square corners and no cracks. Factory printing is clear and readable, no stains, no water marks.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: No missing factory labels. Intact and excellent condition.
