Seafoam Green 1963 Olympic Model AFM-16 Vacuum Tube AM FM Radio Beauty and Sounds Great!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop vacuum tube AM and FM radio manufactured by Sansui Electronics imported and remarketed by Olympic Radio and Television of Long Island City in 1963 in excellent working and physical condition. Sansui Electronics was founded in Japan in 1947 back when the country was still digging itself out of the rubble and facing scorn by many American consumers. One look inside this Olympic branded Sansui manufactured radio and you'll see quality engineering and materials that rivaled German sets of the day but at a fraction of the price. I guess Americans came around to Japanese electronics.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM and FM stations clearly and loudly across the dial without need of external additional antenna attachment. FM external antenna is attached to back lug (included). Switch to AM or FM using the front band selector switch.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded seafoam green color plastic in very good to excellent condition. The top has some slight heat warping. No cracks, chips or major scratches anywhere. Not repainted. No touch up. No over spray. Original factory front aluminum trim is in excellent condition with no dents or dings securely attached. No rust or oxidation. Clear front tuning cover is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, or major scratches and securely attached.
KNOBS: Original matching knobs are securely attached. All 3 knobs center metal cap inserts are not missing which is common.
LOGO: No missing Olympic logo. Raised red and gold paint is not rubbed off.
DIAL LIGHT: power on/off light works
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The brand new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Original backing board is intact, excellent condition, and securely attached.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: One of the bottom labels is intact. The other is mostly missing.
