Cabana Ivory 1951 General Electric Model 218 AM FM Radio Works and Looks Great!
DESCRIPTION: A unique and one of a kind antique radio. One of the earliest AM FM radios. This tabletop tube AM and FM radio was manufactured by General Electric in the early 1951 time-frame excellent working condition. Picks up AM and FM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial. FM stations come in better with a FM antenna wire attachment (included). All AM comes in loud and clear. Cabinet is re-painted vanilla ivory color front, top sides and bottom. Original factory molded brown Bakelite. Hairline crack on top was repaired. No chips or major scratches. All knobs are original and securely attached. Volume, tuning and band selector lettering is slightly rubbed off. This radio is nearly 70 years old! The tuning dial works fine. No slipping or sticky spots. Tuning window is clear, no cracks, no haziness, and securely attached. One scratch in top left corner. The original power cable is securely attached. The power cord is in good working condition. Original backing board is securely attached in excellent condition with crisp square corners and edges. Bottom factory labels are missing. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
