Solid Wood 1946 Crosley Model 56TN Vacuum Tube AM Radio True Historic Beauty!
DESCRIPTION: Vintage wood tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Crosley in 1946-47 timeframe. Picks up AM and shortwave stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without external antenna attachment. Receives shortwave stations better with a long hank of wire. Any kind of wire will do. Wood cabinet is in excellent+ structural condition. No cracks, no splits, no reglue. Not needed. Has been refinished with many many layers of clear coat enamel and lovingly sanded and polished to a smooth piano-like deept mirror finish. No wavy patches, no hazy patches, no runs, no dry spots, no mottled staining. No peeling veneer. No veneer repairs. None needed. The bottom wood front grill slat is missing. Original grill cloth is in excellent condition is clean with no rips, fraying, or missing material. Replacement acrylic front dial window is brand new, clear, no cracks. No yellowing. The original cracked and wavy dial plastic cover is included inside the radio. The tuning dial with broadcast and shortwave scale is pretty. No smudges, no flaking, no rub off lettering or numbering. No pitting no rust. Original knobs are in excellent condition and securely attached. The tuning dial works fine and smooth no slipping. The tuning pointer is in excellent condition. Tuning dial lights work and light brightly! All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. Speaker is original no punctures no rips. Sound is loud and voluminous. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. Backing board is mostly there and intact. The backing board mounting screws look to be original. The power cord for this vintage radio and plug are original and in excellent working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. The bottom factory labels are 100% intact yellowed. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
