DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by General Electric in the 1950's excellent working condition. Model number 543. Cabinet is an original luxurious burgundy case with classic clock face and gold styling. The front metal fascia is in good condition with no rust, tarnish and little oxidation. No cracks on the top! But there are scratches and the surface has lost its brilliant shine. No cracks, chips, repairs or missing material. No repaint or repairs. All original everything. Knobs are original and securely attached. The radio dial has lost the painted radio station numbers. This radio is over 60 years old! Dial light lights up bright! The on off sleep side levers work fine. Nice retro switch. The tuning dial works fine. The power cable is securely attached. The original cord was stronger and better quality than most. The power cord is in good working condition. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The power cord and plug are good original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment with no pets. When this radio was new, Eisenhower was US President!
