Gull Gray and Gold 1953 Zenith Model L622 AM Vacuum Tube Radio Rare Color Sounds Fantastic!
DESCRIPTION: Gray and gold tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Zenith in 1953 in excellent working and physical condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original molded Bakelite in original factory painted gray. Some scratches and chips throughout. Not repainted. No over spray. Not touched up. No cracks, chips, or major scratches or missing pieces. Beautiful, contoured profile. No cosmetic repairs or repaints performed or needed. Cabinet is glossy gray color. Tuning and clock clear covers are original and not yellowed with age. Clear covers are securely mounted. Clock and tuning metal surrounds are smooth no waves no rubbed off numbers. Factory painted gold grill is in excellent condition with slight greening in the top front corners.
KNOBS: Original knobs are gray plastic and securely attached. Silver metal inserts are intact not missing. Two original factory gray matching clock function knobs. One replacement gray clock function knob. Original gray matching tone knob works.
LOGO: Zenith crown center crest is original, with little to no tarnish. No missing or bent crown peaks.
DIAL LIGHT: Power indicator light works and lights when radio is turned on. No tuning or clock light. This one did not come with one. But can be added for an extra charge.
CLOCK: Clock works and keep accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Clock and alarm set time works. Alarm works. Sleep timer works.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free operation in the future.All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The new replacement power cord and plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Back cover in color-matching gray painted Bakelite is in excellent condition with no cracks or chipped corners.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: No missing bottom labels. Intact but yellowed and peeling with some material missing along the edge.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets.
