DESCRIPTION: This was the radio promoted Beatles first visit to USA back in 1964! Featured in documentary "The Beatles: The First US Visit!" Portable transistor AM radio manufactured by Tokyo Electric Industry Company in 1964 timeframe in excellent working and physical condition. Operates on 4 AA batteries which are still readily available standard size batteries found everywhere at any retail store.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial. This vintage portable radio plays great with or without an external antenna attachment. This radio is nearly 60 years old! Loud and clear sounding!
EARPLUGS: Original earplugs included.
CABINET CONDITION: Original factory plastic cabinet is in excellent plus condition with no cracks, chips, no major scratches. Not repainted, not over sprayed or touched up. All factory printed graphics are in excellent condition with no fading or rub off. Original red leather carry case is in excellent condition. Not ripped, battered, or scuffed up.. Blue is not faded or greening.
KNOBS: All original factory matching knobs are in excellent condition. Volume on/off switch works. The tuning dial and pointer works, no slipping no sticky spots.
DIAL LIGHT: No dial light. Not designed with one.
BATTERIES: Operates on 4 AA batteries which are still readily available standard size batteries found everywhere at any retail store.
AC POWER SUPPLY: No AC adapter compatibility as designed. But, can probably be retrofitted to operate off AC Adapter. Not sure that would be advised.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. Thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
FACTORY LABELS: No missing labels
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to moisture, cooking grease, pets or carpet.
