Artisan Handcrafted Original Wood Philco 1946 Model 46-421 Vacuum Tube AM Radio Solid Construction and Sounds Great!

DESCRIPTION: Tabletop vacuum tube AM radio manufactured by Philco in the 1946 time frame. 

CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original hand crafted curved wood. The finish is factory original. Not refinished no touch up no over spray. Has been buffed and polish and treated with furniture polish. Has scuffs and age checking throughout due to age. Clear original tuning glass window is not cracked, no chips, nor yellowed with age. Original factory grill fabric is in very good condition with no rips, some surface fraying, yellowed with age.

WORKING CONDITION: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna.. 

LOGO: No missing logos. Original factory Philco front decal is in excellent condition.

KNOBS: Original matching knobs

LETTERING: Not missing, smudged, or faded dial numbering.  Some tuning dial graphics is flaking which is common among Philcos. The tuning dial works fine. No slipping or stuck or sticky spots.

DIAL LIGHT: Replacement new dial bulb works and light sup brightly.

SOUND QUALITY: There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. 

INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All out of tolerance paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. 

BACKING BOARD: No factory backing board.

POWER CORD: The brand new power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.

FACTORY LABEL: Missing factory labels. 

PROVENANCE: Spent most of its life in rural midwest. Was part of collection of avid collector. See gallery article here
