Charcoal and White 1957 RCA Model X-4JE Vacuum Tube AM Radio Works Great Dual Speaker Sound!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop vacuum tube AM radio manufactured by RCA Victor in 1957 in excellent working and physical condition.
CABINET CONDITION: Original factory molded colors through and through. Charcoal gray front and white back color plastic. No cracks or missing pieces. Usually, this model has top back heat crack. Heat shield mounted inside to prevent possibility of heat crack in the future. This one has some very, very slight discoloration on the top right front corner and has a small discolored chip on the front, right bottom edge. Please review photos carefully. Front charcoal grill is in excellent condition. Front aluminum fascia is in excellent condition, no dents, no dings, no waviness, securely attached, no rub off securely adhered.
WORKING CONDITION: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
LOGO: No missing logo. Filteramic badge is in excellent condition.
KNOBS: The original knobs are in excellent condition no cracks no chips. Not missing gold metal center caps. Often, one or both of these gold metal center inserts is missing. Center gold caps are shiny, perfect!
LETTERING: No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on tuning dial lettering. The tuning dial works fine and smooth no slipping. Red tuning pointer is in excellent condition.
DIAL LIGHT: Dial light works and lights brightly. Although it's harder to see in a lighted room.
SOUND QUALITY: There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. Facxtory dual speakers for better sound quality.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All out of tolerance paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs). All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
BACKING BOARD: No backing board. White molded plastic back is in excellent condition with no crack, chips or major scratches. No melted heat vanes.
POWER CORD: The original power cord and plug are in excellent original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
FACTORY LABEL: No missing factory labels.
