Verde Mantis and Ivory 1959-1961 CBS Model C230 Vacuum Tube AM Clock Radio Rare Colorway Rare Model! Sounds Terrific!
DESCRIPTION: Rare tabletop vacuum tube AM clock radio alarm manufactured by CBS in 1959 to 1961 in excellent working and physical condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded grasshopper green and ivory plastic. Not repainted. No over spray. Not touched up. Original molded colors through and through! No major scratches or missing pieces. There is a small repaired chip on the inside edge of the front ivory grill piece lower left corner visible only from left or bottom. There is a small chip on the right side front grill inside edge visible only front right side. Front gold cast metal decorative piece is in excellent condition shiny with no rust slight fading and tarnish and securely attached. Clock clear cover is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips or inclusions and not yellowed.
KNOBS: Replacement matching volume and tuning knobs in very good condition with no cracks, or chips, slightly worn looking. Not missing gold metal inserts. The original tuning dial works fine no slipping or sticky spots.
LOGO: CBS gold factory painted raised logo metal plate is in excellent condition tarnished securely atached.
DIAL LIGHT: No tuning dial light. Not designed with one. But can be added for an extra charge.
CLOCK: Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is silent. Clock and alarm set functions work. Sleep function works. Wake to radio or alarm works.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The original power cord and plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Original backing board is intact securely attached. All factory printing is readable.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: Bottom labels is mostly intact and readable not water stained.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets. Was probably used in or near kitchen for much of its life.
