Army Green 1954 Emerson Model 729B AM Vacuum Tube Radio Rare Model! Sounds Great!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop vacuum tube AM radio manufactured by Emerson in 1954 time frame in excellent working condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations very clearly and very loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded green urea plastic. Urea plastic is a hard quality plastic that predates polycarbonate and styrene based plastics commonly found today. All original factory molded colors through and through. Not repainted. No touch up. No over spray. There no cracks, chips, or major scratches or missing pieces. The front checkboard fascia is in excellent condition with cracks, chips, paint loss, no water stains, no oxidation or discoloration. Heat shield has been installed and mounted underneath to minimize future heat cracking.
KNOBS: Factory original plastic tuning knob. The tuning knob is original factory gold paint slightly oxidized and greening not repainted. The volume ON/OFF knob is a replacement repainted gold.
LOGO: No missing logos or rubbed of manufacturer decals.
DIAL LIGHT: Dial light is new LED replacement that lights with brightly long life.
CLOCK: No clock
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformer (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static free performance. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The original power cord and plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. Not brittle or stiff.
BACKING BOARD: Original factory backing board is in excellent condition and securely mounted. Repaired and reinforced mount holes.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: Bottom labels are not missing a little worn and and stained but readable.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets.
