Burgundy Swirl 1954 General Electric Model 548PH AM Vacuum Tube Radio Sounds Great!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop AM vacuum tube radio manufactured by General Electric GE in the mid-fifties time frame in excellent working condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is in very good condition. Original molded highly figured burgundy red swirl color plastic. All original factory molded colors. Has red, brown, purplish highlights throughout. No repaint, no over spray no touch up. None needed. Repaired hairline crack on bottom side obscured with sticker. No chips, no other major scratches. Clock aluminum metal surround is in excellent condition with no dents or dings. No broken or cracked grill vanes Front clear tuning window is in excellent condition with no cracks, no chips, no flaking numbers.
KNOBS: Original factory matching volume and tuning knobs are in excellent condition with no cracks. Not missing gold metal inserts. Factory original matching three little tan clock function knobs are in excellent condition and securely attached. One or all of these little white GE specific clock knobs are often missing. No other clock radio manufacturer uses this GE series little round clock knobs.
LOGOS: No missing logos
DIAL LIGHT: No dial light. Not designed with one but can be added for an extra charge.
CLOCK: Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is silent, no humming, no grinding, no ticking noises. Clock and alarm time set function works. Wake to radio alarm or alarm buzzer. Sleep timer works. Appliance timer in back works.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free performance. The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
POWER CORD: The brand new replacement power cord and saftey polarized plug are in excellent working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Factory original backing board is in excellent condition.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: Bottom factory label is missing.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, cooking grease, pets or carpet.
