DESCRIPTION: Cute tabletop tube AM clock radio alarm manufactured by RCA Victor in 1957 in excellent working and physical condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded white front and dark beige or tan caramel color plastic back. All original factory molded colors through and through. Not repainted. No over spray. Not touched up. No chips or major scratches or missing pieces. There are some small very thin web hairline cracks on the top back cover. No chipped, melted, or nicked grill vanes.
KNOBS: Original matching gold levers securely attached. The original tuning dial works fine. The gold metal volume knob conical insert is still present. These almost always seem to go missing.
LOGO: RCA Victor gold metal fascia plate is nice, securely attached, not dented no dings no rub off.
DIAL LIGHT: No tuning dial light. Not designed with one. But can be added for an extra charge.
CLOCK Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor has no loud humming. No ticking noises. Alarm and clock set function works and goes off at the correct set times. Buzzer works. Sleep timer works. Unique to RCA gold metal side clock function levers works. Position detents for clock and radio functions are softer touch than normal rotary or slider switch detents.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt or replaced to ensure static free performance. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The new replacement power cord and polarized plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: No backing board. Factory molded backing cover is in excellent condition.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets. Was probably used in or near kitchen for much of its life.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: No missing bottom labels.
