Black and Ivory 1950 Jewel Wakemaster Model 5057U Vacuum Tube AM Clock Radio The Master Awaketh!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM clock alarm radio manufactured by Jewel in 1950 time frame in excellent physical and working condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded black Bakelite. No chips or major scratches or missing pieces. All original factory molded colors through and through. Not repainted no touch up no over spray. None needed. The front ivory color molded plastic bezel is in excellent condition without cracks or chips or major scratches and securely attached. There is some residue in some of the nooks and crannies on the left side of grill.
KNOBS: Original matching ivory color volume and tuning knobs are matching and securely attached and excellent condition. Original matching ivory color plastic clock function knobs are securely attached and excellent condition.
LOGO: No missing logos. Painted fill in Jewel logo is in very good condition. The indented letters or numbers has some missing paint.
DIAL LIGHT: No dial light. Not designed with one but can be added for an extra charge.
CLOCK: Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Alarm and clock set function works and goes off at the correct set times. Buzzer alarm works. Wake to radio and radio with buzzer. Sleep timer does not work. Front blue clock face surround gold metal trim are in excellent condition. Real glass clock cover has no cracks no chips no yellowing. Clock arms and numbering is in excellent readable condition.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: Brand new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent working condition. No breaks, no splits, no repair with electrical tape, or other. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Original factory backing board. Factory printing is not faded, clear, readable, no water stains and securely attached.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: No missing factory labels.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to moisture, cooking grease, pets or carpet.
